Tiana Sharifi is an internationally recognized Canadian expert in anti-sexual exploitation and human trafficking, with over a decade of experience leading prevention education initiatives across digital and in-person contexts. With a reach that spans millions of students, parents, educators, and professionals worldwide, Tiana uses her background in Psychology and Counselling to inform her leadership and shape practical, trauma-informed approaches to complex issues such as consent, vulnerability, and online harm.
As the founder of the Center for Exploitation Education, she has developed a comprehensive, research-driven approach to tackling both in-person and digital exploitation.
Her expertise has positioned the Center as a leading force in the field, sought after for policy development, curriculum creation, keynote presentations, international conferences, nationwide law enforcement training, and nonprofit consulting.
As a trusted expert, Tiana has been featured in over 35 media interviews and invited to speak across government, law enforcement, academic, and civil society sectors.

Sara is known for her sharp eye for detail, creative problem-solving, and ability to bring structure to complexity.
Sara’s unique blend of operational leadership and creative branding insight makes her an invaluable part of the team. As a mother of two young ones, Sara is passionate about contributing to creating a world where our next generations are safe and valued.

Michael Taylor
Educational Content Advisor,
Doctoral CandidateAs a seasoned educator and our Educational Content Advisor, Michael brings his classroom expertise to the development of all student presentations and school-based prevention programs. With a strong background in curriculum design, social justice education, and youth engagement, Mike ensures our educational materials are age-appropriate, relevant, and grounded in real-world classroom experience.
He was the recipient of the 2023 Premier’s Awards for Excellence in Education- known best for his outstanding work through the Social Justice Voices program.
Michael is recognized for his creativity in social justice education, service learning, and youth empowerment initiatives. He is passionate about preventing youth exploitation and has provided presentations on the topic himself to his classes. He is currently completing a Doctorate of Education in Leadership and Policy at UBC.

Dr. Shireen Chaya
Board Member
Shireen is a social sector strategist and impact specialist with over 16 years of experience across philanthropy, academia, research, innovation, policy, and capacity building. Her work is grounded in a deep commitment to equity, with a particular focus on advancing women-led organizations, purpose-driven businesses, and NGOs working at the frontlines of social change.
Shireen has held senior leadership roles at international universities and advised public and private institutions across diverse sectors. In philanthropy, she managed a multimillion-dollar education portfolio, building strategic partnerships with UN and multilateral agencies to support poverty alleviation initiatives in over 60 countries. She has supported private philanthropists, social enterprises, and nonprofit leaders, especially women changemakers, to align their strategies with global frameworks such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards.
With expertise in impact investing, program design, advocacy, and learning frameworks, Shireen brings a systems-thinking approach to every project. As Impact Lead at Gratiya Advisory, she enables governments, institutions, and mission-driven companies to achieve bold visions for inclusive, values-led transformation.

Jesse is a recognized authority on digital citizenship, media literacy, and the evolving role of technology in our working and learning environments. As a board member, Jesse brings deep insight into the risks, responsibilities, and realities of digital communication in a connected world.
As the founder of Mediated Reality and a lecturer at the University of Victoria, Jesse helps educators, employers, and government agencies develop proactive and practical social media literacy programs, as well as leads national campaigns and initiatives that encourage safe, reflective, and pro-social use of online platforms.
Jesse is widely respected for his engaging and thought-provoking approach to conversations around digital life. As an educator and trusted speaker, he facilitates dialogue on everything from online risk mitigation to the convergence of personal and professional identities in digital spaces.

Shayda is a strategic operations and international development specialist with deep experience across public administration, research, and impact evaluation. With a background in International Relations and a Master’s in Public Administration, Shayda brings a rare blend of analytical rigor, operational insight, and systems thinking to her role as a board member.
Over the past decade, Shayda has held senior roles spanning the private sector, global NGOs, and research institutions.
She currently serves as Associate Director at the Center on Modernity in Transition (COMIT), contributing to cutting-edge work on institutional transformation and global policy.
With a passion for purpose-driven leadership and a strong foundation in both public and private systems, Shayda provides sharp insight and steady guidance as a board member. Her cross-sector experience strengthens our commitment to strategic growth, accountability, and global impact.
